Blvd. Of Allies Ramp To 579 North Closing

PITTSBURGH -- Some northern commuters will have to find a new route out of the city.

PennDOT is closing the ramp from the westbound Boulevard of the Allies to northbound Interstate 579.

The ramp will stay closed through Aug. 30 while construction work is done on a bridge deck, PennDOT said.

Signs will be posted to guide drivers around the closure.

Here are PennDOT's suggested detours:

To northbound I-579/Route 28/I-279 (Parkway North)

Take or remain on I-376 (Parkway East) westbound

Follow to I-279 northbound

Cross the Fort Duquesne Bridge

Bear right, continuing on I-279

Follow signs for I-579, Route 28 or remain on I-279 northbound

To Centre Avenue or Bigelow Boulevard from the Boulevard of the Allies

Make a right onto Jumonville Street

Follow Jumonville Street and make a left onto 5th Avenue

Follow 5th Avenue and make a right onto Washington Place

Follow signs to Centre Avenue and Bigelow Boulevard
