Washington County Township Lays Off Police Officers
Township Seeks To Save Money By Temporary Closure Of Police Department

HANOVER TOWNSHIP, Pa. -- A Washington County police department shut it doors Friday.Hanover Township supervisors voted to temporarily lay off its two full-time and four part-time officers to save money. The department is expected to re-open sometime in April.The township is required to provide police protection for events at The Post-Gazette Pavilion. The township will rely on state police from the Moon barracks in the interim.
