Westmoreland Hospital Relocates Hospice Patients To Other Areas

POSTED: 9:45 am EST November 22, 2008

Hospital patients evacuated amidst an electrical fire at Westmoreland Hospital overnight.

Hospital officials released a statement indicating that the fire and a residual odor prompted the evacuation of 16 patients in the G Wing to other areas of the hospital just before 2 a.m. Saturday.

According to the statement, the fire started in an electrical outlet on the second-floor inpatient hospice center. Damage was confined to a wall separating two patient rooms and was estimated at $5,000.

No one was injured and patient care was not compromised at any time, hospital officials said.
