Officials Warn Of Herpes At Westmoreland High School

WESTMORELAND COUNTY, Pa. -- Officials at Penn Trafford High School in Westmoreland County are sending out a warning after a member of the varsity wrestling team was diagnosed with herpes gladiatorum.The skin infection, commonly known as "mat herpes," usually affects athletes who have skin-to-skin contact.The school's wrestling team hasn't had any meets this season. But they have had practices in which members of the team may have been exposed.
There's no cure for this type of herpes, but it can be treated.
