Shannon Perrine gets what she calls the best of both worlds at WTAE Channel 4 Action News.She reports in the field three days a week, meeting the people of the Pittsburgh region and telling their stories, and she anchors the news on Saturday and Sunday evenings.Shannon graduated from Moon Area High School and received her journalism degree from the University of Delaware. She worked in radio, then made her way around television markets of Pennsylvania before coming home to Pittsburgh and WTAE in 1999.
"I love the region. I love these people," she says. "We face some challenges with our economy, but the people who make this area home have always been optimistic and resourceful. Besides that, the sheer number of great restaurants here would make anyone want to call this home."I see a lot of vibrancy here. We have great sports teams and even better sports fans. We have some of the best museums in the country, and some of the best minds. There are a lot of stories to tell here."Shannon and her husband, Bill, love spending time with their daughter, Jane, and son, Paul.When she gets a free moment, you can find Shannon getting in some pleasure reading. She goes for non-fiction books about history.
